Pastor Adam Morrill came to the Friendship Career Exploration class to discuss the career of a pastor. Explaining that there is more to the job of being a pastor than on a Sunday. There are meetings, seeing people in the hospital and other various community out reach. Thanks for your time and insights

Liz Lingenfelter and Cody Shepard from Armstrong Cable came to discuss their roles in the Armstrong Company. Liz is part of marketing and gave examples of her role in community fundraising and other events that Armstrong supports. Cody discussed his role as a technician on the road and the supportive efforts for customers. As with any job there are pitfalls and each explained theirs but their overall message was that Armstrong was a good family company to work for. Liz and Cody thanks for your time and honesty.

Friendship-Scio Varsity Baseball and Softball games today 4/3 have been moved to the turf in Fillmore. Baseball will start at 4:45 and Softball after.

Olivia Marks (2024 FCS Graduate) came into school to tell the student body about the Genesee Rotary Valley Rotary Camp. Genesee Valley Rotary Camp (GVRC), is a one week summer camp for young people (ages 8 – 21) with various disabilities. GVRC is a not-for-profit organization that became incorporated in 1963 and has served children and young adults from four surrounding counties (Livingston, Steuben, Wyoming, and Allegany) ever since. Friendship has raised money the past two years for the camp and with the help of the Friendship Rotary has donated close to $4000. Classes will be competing the next two weeks with each other to see who can raise the most money. Student Council will give prizes to the winners of grades k-2, 3-6, Middl School and High School.

Occupational Therapists Virginia Hurst from Noyes Health Services came in to speak to students to explain what she does for her job. OT is focused on skills that a person needs when they are trying to recover from surgery or other traumatic event. In addition, Virginia explained the difference between a Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist. Finally for the final 15 minutes students had the opportunity to do some of the skills that people would use such as putting on a shirt with only one arm or putting on a sock without bending over. Other activities included a grip test, finding marbles in a container of beans, and other tactile exercises.

4th and 5th grade celebrated a month of class achievement by attending an afterschool swim party at GVCS! We are so proud of our students’ hard work and effort!

Josh Brown from Brown's Plumbing came into the Career Exploration Class today to discuss the plumbing career and owning your own business. Students were exposed to the idea that plumbing is more than toilets but water lines, gas lines, and other infrastructure of homes and business. Finally as a small business owner he gave insights into the obstacles he faces versus larger companies. Mr. Brown thanks for your time and expertise. Mr. Brown is on the left in the picture.

On this past Friday, Mr. Steve Appleby from the Eldred WWII War Museum came to speak to our 8th Grade and 10th Grade Students. He discussed key points of WWII and shared his experiences of being in the Army Special Forces for 28 years. Mr. Appleby provided the students with life lessons on perseverance, discipline, determination, survival and what is to just believe in yourself. Thank you, Mr. Appleby, for sharing what you experienced and the benefits of the Eldred WWII Museum. These same students participated in a timeline walk of Louis Zamperini's life from the novel "Unbroken" and what he experienced during WWII. They also participated in activities that demonstrated Mr. Zamperini's ordeal lost at sea in a raft with 2 other men and one of his POW camp experiences where he was forced to hold a "beam" above his head. Thank you, Mrs. Brandes, for setting up this engaging day in the life of Mr. Louis Zamperini and Mrs. Lindsey Marcus for joining in on the fun!! Ms. Landow's ELA class was ecstatic to collaborate with the library on this fun adventure!

Spring lock-in 2025 was a success! 51 Students came and enjoyed bowling, movies, open gym, board games, capture the flag throughout the whole school and finally breakfast. Student Council would like to thank all the chaperones, custodians, and administration that helped out. The night was full of laughs and some fierce competition. It was a night that most will remember.

Congratulations to Friendship student Madison Rondeau who finished 11th overall as an individual bowler at this weekend's New York State Public High School Athletic Association Bowling State Championship. In addition, the Section 6 small school all-star team finished in 2nd place to take home a silver medal.

FCS would like to recognize Connie Hammond for 27 years of service transporting our students and wish her well in her retirement!

Darryl Ross came to the Friendship Career Exploration Classroom to discuss his career as a linemen for Rochester Gas and Electric. He discussed the rewards and dangers of his job. He also allowed students to try on some of his equipment to see the safety precautions that are taken. Finally he relayed that there are many different types of linemen and what they may encounter from hanging from a helicopter to climbing a pole in the middle of a snow storm. Thanks Mr. Ross for sharing your insights regarding the career of a linemen.

Jessica Hunt (FCS Graduate) is the General Manager of the LC Whitford materials department and was joined by President Brad Whitford to discuss the construction industry. LC Whitford has divisions in bridge construction, materials, waterproofing, equipment, railroads, and energy products. Both discussed their career journeys. Jessica came from the aerospace sector and Brad worked in all areas of the company prior to become president. Thank You for sharing your career paths and recommendations to be successful in the workforce with the Friendship Students.

Daniel Richard and his son came to the Friendship Career Exploration Class to explain what masons do and their role in construction. They worked on stamped concrete to new foundation creation, but there main business was repairing foundations of private home. Mr. Richard discussed his expectations of his employees, ethics on the job and other job related items. Thank You for your time with our class.
