Kristin Kozak from the University of Rochester Medical Center can to discuss the Department of Imaging to the Friendship Career Exploration Class. She explained that there are very different areas of imaging that a person can pursue such as X-Ray, fluoroscopy, MRI, Ultrasound, nuclear medicine and interventional imaging. In the next decade there will be at least a 6% increase in imaging personal. Beyond just talking and explaining her field she showed some of the test cases she has worked on over the years, some of those are seen in the pictures.

Robert Langdon came into the Friendship Careers Class to discuss his job as a surveyor. It was great to see how surveying has come from the Egyptians to early America to the modern day. In the early days of the US to survey anything you needed a crew of 10+ crew members but today it can be done with 1-3 people. Its incredible how many operations of our lives are influenced by surveying. The math needed to be a surveyor is definitely incredible. Finally it was impressed on the class that the orange stakes in the ground that are left by a surveyor need to stay in place because its against the law and ultimately it would cost the landowner money to replace the stake. Thank you Mr. Langdon for sharing your expertise and spending time with our class.

Carolyn Newhouse and Julie Speaker from the Bradford Area Alliance visited the Friendship Careers Class to discuss entrepreneurship. Carolyn discussed her four companies that she started and the model she used for each of them. Julie, a former elementary school counselor, brought the focus of doing what you want to do and how to be passionate. Ultimately, both women made it clear that the path our students take to their career field is up to each student. Students were shocked to hear that Carolyn does not have a start time for her employees or an end of day time, she pays for results not seat time. Thank you both for your time and insights.
